Willow Park sits on 7.5 acres and has lots of amenities such as three full tennis courts, a playground, and a state-of-the-art fieldhouse for rent.
The 7.5 acres designated as Willow Park was purchased in 1966 through an installment contract. This site was held until funds became available for its development in 1971-72. Willowbrook School (11.5 acres), adjacent to Willow Park, was leased from School District 30 in 1967, to produce a combined school-park site of 19 acres.
In 1970, a general obligation bond issue of $214,000 was passed, a portion of which paid for first phase development of Willow Park
In 1971, another general obligation bond issue of $140,000 was approved. These funds financed completion of the second phase development of Willow Park.
A field house was constructed at Willow Park in 1972.
In 2002, the playground at Willow Park was renovated as part of the park district’s capital replacement program.
In 2011, a renovation of Willow Park field house was undertaken as a cooperative project with the Northern Suburban Special Recreation Association. Features in the remodeled field house included special disability modifications to allow NSSRA to use this field house as a primary location for many of their programs. Funding included $100,000 each from the Northern Suburban Special Recreation Foundation and Glenview Park Foundation. An additional $60,000 was contributed by the member agencies of NSSRA. The renovation was completed and the field house made available for use by NSSRA and the community in May 2012.
