tyner interpretive center roof

Beginning March 4, 2024, the park district will begin replacement of the Tyner Interpretive Center roof. This will include electrical work, sheet metal removal, roofing repairs, and reinstallment of new sheet metal and landscaping. This project will be completed in May, and the front entrance of the center will be closed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. while the work is being done.

parking lot improvements

The Glenview Prairie Club primary parking lot will undergo crack filling and restriping for all parking spaces, while the maintenance lot will also receive any needed repairs in November 2023. Project timing and completion dependent on weather conditions.

improvements to fields

Work began at Flick Park to provide new sod, new infield mix, and a new and improved batter’s box for the baseball/softball field. This work will be ongoing throughout October 2023.

new roof for the heritage center

Contractors started work on the Heritage Center at Historic Wagner Farm the week of September 11, 2023. The project started on the north side of the building, and no issues were seen during the tear-off and replacement of the roof. While repairing the south side of the building, contractors found bucking of decking in three locations. The roof’s south side is being assessed to determine the best way to move forward with repairs.

new farm adventure area

Historic Wagner Farm unveiled its new farm adventure area in May 2021 with a ribbon-cutting celebration. We created this short 60-second video to encourage visitation and give the public an opportunity to see all the changes and new additions that resulted from community feedback on overall master plan improvements at the Farm.

ice center renovation

As part of the 2018 bond proposal, the state-of-the-art Community Ice Center renovations completed in September 2020.

A 29-member Citizen Task Force made up of community leaders and business owners were tasked with presenting a recommendation to the park district board of commissioners.
