schram memorial chapel roofing project

The Schram Memorial Chapel roofing project will take place from October 14- 27, weather permitting. During this time, the existing roof will be replaced to ensure the long-term preservation and functionality of the chapel. Construction noise and activity around the chapel may increase during the construction period. Permitted construction hours are weekdays: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturdays: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sundays: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. We are working closely with the contractor to minimize any disruptions and complete the project as efficiently as possible.

central parkway bridge construction

UPDATE 10/3/24: Hurricane Helene has impacted the bridge fabrication, delivery date and construction schedule. The existing bridge will remain open until further notice. Thank you for your patience!

central parkway bridge construction

The pedestrian bridge that spans from Central Parkway (Raleigh Road) over the West Fork North Branch of the Chicago River is maintained by the Glenview Park District. The Park District will be replacing the bridge this fall with support from a $225,000 “Invest in Cook” grant from the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways. Construction on the bridge will begin on October 1, 2024. The existing bridge is being removed and new concrete footings will be installed. Then the new pre-fabricated bridge can be installed and the bridge concrete decking and approach sidewalks will be poured. This work is expected to take approximately three months, with anticipated opening of the bridge in mid-December 2024.

park center parking lot maintenance

Maintenance will take place in the Park Center parking lot on August 2 and 6. The maintenance will be completed over two days to ensure there are areas for public parking, and will include cleaning, seal coating, crack filling and re-striping of the parking lot. The area pictured in red will be completed on Friday, August 2, and the area in blue will be completed on Tuesday, August 6.

glenview park golf club turf care center

GPGC is gearing up for a makeover for its 57-year-old maintenance building. An all-new Turf Care Center will break ground in the fall, with an anticipated completion date of Fall 2025. The new Turf Care Center is part of the golf course master plan and will be located in the same location as the current golf maintenance facility, located at 800 Rolling Pass.

tyner interpretive center roof

Beginning March 4, 2024, the park district will begin replacement of the Tyner Interpretive Center roof. This will include electrical work, sheet metal removal, roofing repairs, and reinstallment of new sheet metal and landscaping. This project will be completed in May, and the front entrance of the center will be closed Monday through Friday from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. while the work is being done.

parking lot improvements

The Glenview Prairie Club primary parking lot will undergo crack filling and restriping for all parking spaces, while the maintenance lot will also receive any needed repairs in November 2023. Project timing and completion dependent on weather conditions.

improvements to fields

Work began at Flick Park to provide new sod, new infield mix, and a new and improved batter’s box for the baseball/softball field. This work will be ongoing throughout October 2023.

new roof for the heritage center

Contractors started work on the Heritage Center at Historic Wagner Farm the week of September 11, 2023. The project started on the north side of the building, and no issues were seen during the tear-off and replacement of the roof. While repairing the south side of the building, contractors found bucking of decking in three locations. The roof’s south side is being assessed to determine the best way to move forward with repairs.

new farm adventure area

Historic Wagner Farm unveiled its new farm adventure area in May 2021 with a ribbon-cutting celebration. We created this short 60-second video to encourage visitation and give the public an opportunity to see all the changes and new additions that resulted from community feedback on overall master plan improvements at the Farm.
