With over an acre of space, this grassy tot lot, located in a residential area just west of the Metra tracks, offers lots of space for kids to run, roll, and crawl around, in addition to a variety of equipment that will keep slightly older siblings entertained, including a basketball court. Parents can enjoy the shaded picnic table as well as the paved path surrounding the play equipment that is perfect for short stroller walks.
In 1951, developers of the Central Park residential subdivision donated 1.25 acres to the park district which was developed with a small playground which was designated Central Tot Lot.
In December 1975, the voters of the District approved a general obligation bond issue in the amount of $450,000, a portion of which was used to build basketball courts at Central Tot Lot.
