Get Out and Go Treasure Hunt

Get the family out and go on a nature-inspired treasure hunt! Follow the treasure map to search for hidden clues while exploring the natural areas of Gallery Park and Kent Fuller Air Station Prairie. Walk or ride your bicycle from Park Center to Air Station Prairie and earn stamps for answering questions about discoveries you make along the way.

Pick up your treasure map at Park Center any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Hunt takes one hour to complete, and the event concludes at 3 p.m.

Please note: The scavenger hunt ends at a different location than it starts. If you parked at the starting point (Park Center), you’ll need to walk back to your car after finishing. (Route distance: 0.84 miles one way; Round trip: 1.68 miles)

Ditch your electronic devices and enjoy a day of unplugged activities at The Grove celebrating the power recreation has to create healthier, happier communities. Chalk the Walk with happy thoughts and pictures, play family lawn games, fly a kite and more!

Sponsored by the Illinois Park and Recreation Association, Unplug Illinois Day is a statewide initiative that encourages people to get out, unplug, play and engage with one another. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Power Half Hour in the Park

📍 Location Change for Tonight’s Power Half Hour

Due to inclement weather, this FREE class has been moved to Studio 1 at Park Center, running from 5:15–6:05 p.m. It’s now a full 50-minute class!

Head to Jackman Park for a special free Park Center Health and Fitness outdoor group fitness class* and stay for the free Bearfoot in the Park concert, featuring Wild Daisy.

No equipment needed for this fast paced, 30-minute class using only your body weight. Learn exercises you can do anywhere! Perfect for all fitness levels.

This is a national day of outdoor play, designed to connect kids and their families with their local, state and national parks, to create the next generation of park stewards and caretakers. Summer Restoration Work Days at Fuller Air Station Prairie

Assist in the restoration efforts at Kent Fuller Air Station Prairie by helping with a variety of restoration activities such as removing non-native invasive plants or collecting seed. Bring work gloves if you have them. For families and individuals Ages 8+. Volunteers under 15 must participate with an adult. Volunteers under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian. To receive an application/waiver in advance please contact grove.volunteers@glenviewparks.org. Work days may be cancelled due to inclement weather.

Fairy & Firefly Fest

Legendary woodland creatures known as fairies can be found in folklore and at The Grove! Come with your wings and dress for a magical adventure.

Get sprinkled with some pixie dust, participate in a bubble wind dance and guided fairy quest. Make and take home a fairy door and a firefly catcher jar. Learn a fairy song, enjoy a play fairy picnic in the garden, get a photo with a fairy and more!

Cures and Curiosities: A 19th Century Medicine Exhibit Opening

Explore the fascinating world of 19th century medicine at The Grove’s new exhibit. See how science and superstition battled for dominance during this time of medical innovation, through historical artifacts and first-hand accounts from several Kennicott doctors and dentists.

Discover the tools and techniques that shaped the evolving medical field, from bleeding bowls to early surgical instruments, to natural remedies from plants grown right here at The Grove.

The exhibit will also peek into the often-reprehensible treatment of patients in asylums and the fight to revolutionize mental health treatment. Featuring Dr. John Kennicott, his brothers, William and Jonathan Asa, and his nephew, Dr. Guy Kennicott, this new exhibit brings history to life.

The exhibit will be open during summer history tour hours following the June 28 opening.

Pioneer Day

Pack your sense of adventure and step back in time at Pioneer Day at The Grove! You’ll bring the 1800s pioneer experience to life as you follow your map and travel along The Grove’s trails. At each stop on your “road trip”, you’ll immerse yourself in pioneer life with hands-on activities and historical encounters.

Activities Include:

  • Hands-on activities like candle dipping, tin punching and pioneer chores
  • Play old-fashioned pioneer games and enjoy music from the past
  • Meet reenactors from a Civil War-era Army Corps of Engineers and learn about their important contributions

Note: Timed entry tickets are available every 15 minutes starting at 11:00 AM. The final admission is at 2:00 PM, and the event concludes at 3:00 PM. Be sure to select your preferred time when purchasing tickets online.
