The Glenview Park District is hosting the 2^nd Annual National Night out on Tuesday, August 6^th, from 6 to 8 p.m., outside Park Center, located at 2400 Chestnut Avenue. This community-wide event is presented in partnership with the Village of Glenview and the Glenview Police Department.

National Night Out is a free night of fun, supporting community-building and promoting police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. This year’s event will feature touch-a-truck activities, inflatables, face painting, games, food trucks, a Bicycle Town (requiring participants to bring their own bike and helmet), and a Kids’ Community Walk at the end of the event complete with glow bracelets and bubbles.

“National Night Out is a celebration of community,” said Kara Graber, Visual Arts and Recreation Supervisor at the Glenview Park District. “I love seeing families interact with police, fire and park district staff in a positive way for a night of fun.”

National Night Out was first introduced in August of 1984 through a network of law enforcement agencies, neighborhood watch groups, civic groups, state and regional crime prevention and associations and volunteers across the country. The first annual National Night Out involved 2.5 million neighbors across 400 communities in 23 states. For more information on how the program began, visit the National Night Out’s website.
