New Division Director of Administrative Operations
The Glenview Park District is pleased to announce Laila Bashia as its new Division Director of Administrative Operations. Bashia formerly served as the Human Resources Manager for the District from 2004 to 2016.
In her role as Division Director of Administrative Operations, Bashia will oversee human resources, information technology, finance and risk management. Her first day will be Tuesday, March 19.
“Laila comes to us with a wealth of experience, having dedicated 12 years of her career to the Glenview Park District, and spending the last 8 years as a key member of the senior leadership team at the Schaumburg Park District. Her impressive tenure in these roles has been marked by innovative strategies, collaborative successes, and an unwavering commitment to excellence,” said Executive Director Michael McCarty. “Laila’s deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our district and sector, combined with her commitment to fostering a positive workplace culture, positions her as an ideal leader to guide our administrative operations into a bright future.”
Bashia began her career in the private sector, but says she found her true passion 20 years ago when she entered the public sector as the Human Resources Manager at Glenview Park District, where she played a pivotal role in developing and implementing strategic HR initiatives.
In 2016, Bashia became the Director of Human Resources for Schaumburg Park District, where she continued her commitment to excellence in HR management and organizational culture. Her ability to collaborate effectively with the Executive Director and other department heads contributed significantly to the organization’s success, particularly through the operational crisis of the 2020 pandemic and the recovery years that followed.
Bashia says she is both excited and honored to return to the Glenview Park District as the Division Director of Administrative Operations. “I am looking forward to contributing my skills and experiences in new ways. My goal is to make a positive impact on the organization and the community we serve.”
“I am both thrilled and honored to announce Laila will be re-joining our team. Having worked briefly with her in my first year as Executive Director for the Glenview Park District, and seeing her tremendous growth and success, I look forward to meeting the many challenges and opportunities ahead with her and the tremendous Administrative Operations Team,” said McCarty.
Bashia is originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and has called Illinois her home for the past 25 years. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree from Marquette University and her Master’s Degree from Keller Graduate School of Management.
