This year’s 4th of July Parade Grand Marshal is long-time Glenview resident and community volunteer Kay Laurie. Laurie has lived in Glenview for 34 years, where she raised her two sons, Chad and Brett. She started volunteering in Glenview on the St. David’s Nursery School Board in 1994 and has been volunteering on committees ever since. Kay joined the Glenview 4th of July Committee in 2000, where she volunteered for 25 years. Kay and her husband Jeff truly believe in the value of volunteering in the community.

“I have always said it is the volunteers who truly benefit from working on worthwhile community initiatives,” said Laurie. “So much is gained from the people you serve with who become dear friends.”

“Kay Laurie has exemplified tireless service, passionate leadership and heartfelt stewardship in her role with the 4th of July Committee,” said Craig Solomon, Chair of the 4th of July Committee and Executive Director at Wesley Child Care Center. “Her enduring passion has helped shape the celebration into what it is today, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who has worked alongside her.”
