Glenview Concert Band Fall Concert

Join us for a special afternoon as the Glenview Concert Band performs an unforgettable fall concert. Enjoy concert band classics by Prokofiev, John Mackey and more, plus a special Veterans Day tribute featuring the Armed Forces medley. Founded in 1985 by 12 passionate musicians, three off whom still perform today, the band has grown into a vibrant community treasure.

Public Input Meeting: Planning for Sleepy Hollow Park

Join us for a design review meeting for the community that will be held at the Sleepy Hollow Park fieldhouse. Review schematic designs and provide feedback to assist in planning for Sleepy Hollow Park.

The Glenview Park District continues to advance park improvements and planning goals defined in our Comprehensive Master Plan to maintain the high quality of park and recreation services for our community.

Parks master plans are essential to provide a road map for the Park District on future improvements to the parks. We welcome your input and hope you will join us!

Glenview 4th of July

Join us for the best celebration on the North Shore! Our bike parade begins at Jackman Park at 11:20 a.m., followed by the full parade at 11:30 a.m. which steps off at the corner of Harlem and Glenview Road. Join us at Gallery Park at 6 p.m. for a DJ dance party, food vendors, live music and a fireworks finale to cap the evening.

OAKtober Tree Trot

Join us on a special guided trail walk led by Village of Glenview’s Arborist and Natural Resource Manager, Robyn Flakne, as she focuses on the native trees of Illinois growing at The Grove, especially our mighty oaks. Please meet on the Interpretive Center porch at 9:15 am.

National Night Out

Join us for Glenview’s National Night Out, a community-building event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The event will feature inflatables, face painting, touch-a-truck, food trucks, music and more!

FREE! Outdoor Movie Night: A Minecraft Movie

Bring your blankets, lawn chairs and favorite snacks for a special screening of A Minecraft Movie – an adventurous journey where four misfits are suddenly pulled through a mysterious portal into a bizarre, cubic wonderland that thrives on imagination.

In case of rain, the movie will move indoors to the Glenview Library’s Community Room and become a ticketed event.

Folk Fest

Local history comes to life at Folk Fest! Celebrate autumn at The Grove with folk music, hayrides and more. Shop unique items from local vendors and artisans. Dine on hearty pork and bean stew, corn, caramel apples, slices of pie, popcorn and apple cider in the outdoor dining hall (additional purchase required). Explore a Native American Indian longhouse, take in the fall colors on a nature walk along the picturesque trails and immerse yourself in the history of Glenview as costumed interpreters relive local history.

Get tickets online in advance and select your admission time: 11 a.m., 1 p.m., or 3 p.m. Admission is $5 per person and $1 for children under age 12. Admission increases the day of the event.

Prisoners Family Wine Dinner at Coarse Italian

Join us for a beautiful evening on the Gazebo learning about the history and culture of the decadent Prisoner Wine family. Enjoy a select 5-course dinner that is meticulously paired with wine.

National Night Out

Join us for a free night of fun hosted by the Glenview Park District, Village of Glenview and Glenview Police Department! Meet your neighbors, community leaders and public safety officials. You can get up close and touch a truck, ride around the bicycle town (bring your bike and helmet) and play fun games. There will also be food trucks, music and much more!

At the end of the event, kids can take part in a short community walk, complete with glow bracelets and bubbles!

It is free to attend and everyone is welcome. We can’t wait to see you there!

Movie in the Park: Wonka

Grab your coziest blankets or chairs, a picnic basket full of your favorite snacks and join us for a movie night under the stars at Jackman Park. Wonka (2023) is about young chocolatier, Willy Wonka, who is armed with nothing but a hatful of dreams. He manages to change the world, one delectable bite at a time!

This free movie is presented by the Glenview Public Library and the Glenview Park District. In case of rain, the movie will become a ticketed event inside the Glenview Library’s Community Room. All ages are welcome!

Tomato Fest: A Juicy Good Time Awaits!

Explore the many sides of this versatile fruit (or is it a vegetable?) through tastings, games, art, wagon rides and hands-on activities.

4th Annual Festival of Trees

Cicadas & the Brood XIII Emergence with Dr. Cicada

Cicadas are here! Discover what all the buzz is about from Dr. Cicada himself! University of Connecticut-Hartford entomologist John Cooley, Ph.D. will be visiting The Grove Program Barn and presenting an engaging, educational, hands-on cicada adaptive program for all. Brood XIII’s exact emergence dates are unclear so stay in the know! Registration is required and seating is limited.

Kids Night Out Valentine Friends (ages 4-6)

In the tradition of the original Grove Literary Society established by Robert Kennicott and his father Dr. John, The Grove Heritage Association hosts a new book club that focuses on books about the natural history to better understand where and how we live. Grove Literary Society

In the tradition of the original Grove Literary Society established by Robert Kennicott and his father Dr. John, The Grove Heritage Association hosts a new book club that focuses on books about the natural history to better understand where and how we live. Explore the new Discovery Room at The Grove! Join us for a free community grand opening celebration and open house. The Discovery Room includes a replica of Robert Kennicott’s skeleton, a large multi-species landform exhibit, enhancement of the current scavenger hunt exhibit, interactive discovery table, welcoming kiosks, and framing of existing animal exhibits.

The Discover Room renovation was funded through a $375,000 Illinois Public Museum Capital grant, and designed by Bluestone and Associates.

Christmas Candlelight Tours

Step back in time and discover the enchanting sights and sounds of a traditional 19th century family Christmas. Guests will be ushered through the festively adorned, candlelit rooms of the 1856 Kennicott House by a historically-dressed guide while stories of Victorian holiday traditions are shared in each decorated room. Tours end with a visit and small gift from Santa.

Each family member must register separately.

One-hour time slots are available from 5:30-6:45 pm.

Indigenous Peoples’ Day honors the rich histories, cultures and contributions of indigenous American peoples. Celebrate this meaningful day at The Grove by visiting our Native American Village and touring the Long House to learn about the history of the Indigenous peoples and their history in our region.

Try interactive activities like grinding corn, using a bow drill to start a fire, and playing Native American games. You’ll also get to see real tools and objects used by Native American communities in the past. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. No registration required.

Forest Bathing

This time, getting caught red-handed means reeling in the biggest fish! Join the Glenview Police Department for an afternoon of bobbers, bait and big catches. Police officers and park district staff will be on hand to help kids bait hooks, cast lines and reel in fish.

The Grove Heritage Association Holiday Market, November 13-16. This is a national day of outdoor play, designed to connect kids and their families with their local, state and national parks, to create the next generation of park stewards and caretakers. Robert's Yukon Adventure Day

Are you ready for an adventure? Illinois’ first naturalist, Robert Kennicott, grew up at The Grove and made two expeditions to the Yukon, in 1859 and 1865. Bring your family to experience Robert’s journey north and discover what his life was like in this frigid territory.

Watch dog sledding demonstrations from Adopt-a-Husky, learn about winter ecology and how animals adapt to the cold, and try hands-on snow experiments and snowshoeing (weather permitting). Kids can join in on an indoor snowball fight, and families can warm up by the campfire with hot cocoa and s’mores available for purchase (cash only). Plus, enjoy even more seasonal fun throughout the event!

Legendary woodland creatures known as fairies can be found in folklore and at The Grove! Come with your wings and dress for a magical adventure.

Get sprinkled with some pixie dust, participate in a bubble wind dance and guided fairy quest. Make and take home a fairy door and a firefly catcher jar. Learn a fairy song, enjoy a play fairy picnic in the garden, get a photo with a fairy and more!

Read, Feed and Encourage

Join Historic Wagner Farm for a day celebrating kind acts, community service and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Bring non-perishable food items and books to the farm and take part in a book exchange. Write words of encouragement to travel with donated items. Food items will be donated to the Northfield Township Food Pantry and books left over after the exchange will go to Bernie’s Book Bank and the Glenview Public Library Used Bookstore. No registration is necessary, and it is free to attend!
