Northshore Baconfest has been sold out! We look forward to seeing you at the event on April 27.

Spend a “sizzling” evening on the farm as chefs from many of the North Shore’s best restaurants serve up tastings of imaginative bacon creations!

This delicious evening (limited to adults) will also include “a side” of live music, a cash bar (soft drinks included in ticket price), and an array of clever and unique bacon-related merchandise available for purchase.

General Admission: $45 – includes event entry from 6-8 pm, sample-sized portions of all bacon dishes, soft drinks, live music (see below), and the opportunity to purchase bacon-related items. Sorry, but this admission level is SOLD OUT!

VIP Admission: $55 – in addition to the above, those who purchase a VIP ticket will be admitted an hour early (5 pm), receive a Northshore Baconfest “gift” bag filled with discount coupons and goodies from participating restaurants and sponsors, and watch a live cooking demonstration by Kraft Executive Chef Harry Crane (see below). Sorry, but this admission level is SOLD OUT!

Our Featured Entertainer – Bucky Halker

Bucky Halker is a veteran Chicago singer-songwriter, best known for his eclectic mix of Americana, folk, and roots music. His recent recordings include a 2012 double-CD release, The Ghost of Woody Guthrie, an original music tribute to legendary songwriter Woody Guthrie, and Wisconsin 2-13-63, Volumes 1 & 2.  Bucky Halker tours regularly in the United States and Europe, holds a Ph.D. in history, and also writes extensively on American music history, including a book on American protest music. He produced the acclaimed, five-CD set, Folksongs of Illinois and serves on the board of the Woody Guthrie Foundation and Archives.

Bucky will be joined by bassist John Abbey from the Old Town School of Folk Music, and dobro player and guitarist Steve Doyle, also from the Old Town School and a prominent fixture on the Chicago music scene.

VIP Chef Demonstration Featuring Kraft Executive Chef Harry Crane

Harry Crane is currently Executive Chef in the Culinary Center of Excellence, Kraft Foods Global, located in Glenview, Illinois.

Prior to joining Kraft, Chef Crane was a chef in one of the Midwest’s top French restaurants — Le Titi de Paris in Arlington Heights, Illinois. Following his restaurant experience, Chef Crane continued his culinary career as a chef instructor at The School of Culinary Arts at Kendall College. In addition to his teaching duties, he developed recipe applications for and conducted cooking demonstrations at a nationally recognized cancer treatment hospital, Chicago-area HMOs and a variety of prominent institutions in the Chicago area. A frequent finalist in culinary competitions, Chef Crane has won contests using such diverse products as Maple Leaf Farms Duckling, Colavita Olive Oil, Canandaigua Wine, Tyson Chicken, Chilean Fresh Fruit and Pollio Dairy Products.

Chef Crane began cooking professionally later in life. Following a career in management consulting, Chef Crane followed his passion for cooking and pursued his culinary education at Le Cordon Bleu, Paris, The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York and The School of Culinary Arts at Kendall College in Chicago, Illinois.

Many of the dishes the chef creates are inspired by his extensive travels. The chef is currently teaching a course on Mediterranean cuisine at Kendall College using a number of recipes inspired from trips to Turkey, Morocco, Italy, Egypt, Spain and the Provencal region of France.

He is a frequent writer on food topics for industry publications such as the National Culinary Review and Chef magazines and has been a contributor to the “Good Eating” section of the Chicago Tribune. In addition, Chef Crane is a member of the American Culinary Federation and is past president of the Research Chefs Association.
